Nylon Filament Helical & Hoop Winding Process

  • The elastomer used in the fender skin in polyurea. The skin is reinforced by filament winding wrap in a helical and hoop direction, which is controlled by and automatic winding system with load cell sensors at each filament. Our four-axis filament winding system, also used to build spacecraft fuel tanks, takes control and positions each filament for maximum strength and an even finish.

  • Foam Filled Fenders have high energy absorption with low reaction force and hull pressure.
  • The reaction force curve shows a gradual performance increase as deflection rate increases, meaning fenders do not experience a high reaction force during normal docking procedures. Instead, the high reaction force of rubber fenders at low deflection rates has negative effects on docks, piers, and vessels.

Performance test

Test procedures

Select Fender → Move to the Machine → Measure Height → Compression→ Read Reaction Force (60%) → Unload → Measure Height (Recovery Rate)

Compression Performance Test

Energy absorption and compression load must meet the value below within the deflection 60%. The recovery in height of fender after two minutes of the release of the compression load applied must be more than 90% of its original height. And after thirty minutes, must be more than 95%.
